In the second half of life, these questions and confusions weigh even heavier. What was supposed to happen but didn’t? What should we have learned or received but didn’t? Why aren’t we happy? It feels like we’re chasing something impossible—something no one truly understands.
Individuation means becoming our true selves by uncovering the qualities and abilities we never knew we had. Carl Jung says we, the two percenters, have been called from childhood. Early hardships set us on a different path of growth. Unlike us, most children aren’t instinctively drawn to life’s deeper meaning.
It’s not that they are shallow; life has simply given them meaning, and that’s enough. But for us, to understand the deep meaning of life and overcome the chaos within and around us, we must take the long road of individuation.
